El Universal Ilustrado, is an anthology that celebrates the one hundredth anniversary of the first publication of El Universal's weekly paper, which began its life in May 1917, and is by far, one of the most important cultural publications in Mexican journalism, for having been a seedbed of eminent intellectuals. The quantity and quality of its collaborators is without a doubt overwhelming: there arose great authors, new journalistic styles and an exceptional graphic and photographic work. The importance of El Universal Ilustrado lies in the size of the collaborators who paraded in its pages, being a showcase for the artistic forefronts.
